As a lot of us know, James was a big supporter of the American Knife and Tool Institute (AKTI).He was their first silver-level member, gave a portion of his profits to them, and was one of their strongest recruiters. It seems fitting that there be an avenue to honor James' memory in the service of AKTI
I have just had a telephone conversation with Ms.Jan Billeb, Executive Director of AKTI, and pledged the first donation to the James K. Mattis Memorial Fund. The AKTI board of directors will meet next week to determine what would be the best way to apply these funds in James' memory. Be assured that it will be something that will honor James and keep his cherished memory alive. All donations over $35.00 will include an AKTI membership, or renewal for those already active. I urge you to show your compassion and support by contributing to this worthy memorial. Updates will be provided on this forum as we progress. All you need to do is reference James Mattis on your check, or when you call the toll free telephone number listed below. Visa and Mastercard are also accepted.

David - thank you for arranging this. It is very fitting as James was an avid supporter of AKTI. I am going to contribute to this as well. Come on folks, step up to the plate!

I think thats a great Ideal, Count me in, I will call Monday and make my donation. I did not know James personaly but have talk to a lot of people who did and spoke very highly of James.
