James Mattis special ordered this khukuri. He wanted it to be made by Kumar so it would have the six pointed star on the blade. He wanted Bhimsen to engrave a snow leopard on the right side of the blade. He wanted the handle to be pinned. He got what he wanted.

The khukuri is 21 inches overall and weighs 1 pound, 10 ounces. Kumar did a beautiful job and this khukuri and it was accepted by Jim without any hesitation and, in fact, with great enthusiasm. If you recall he posted some pix of kittens in regard to his feelings about this khukuri.

Jim wanted a quick draw scabbard for this knife so he commissioned Terry Sisco to do the job and you can see that Terry made a scabbard that is well suited to the knife. Excellently done.

I am going to sell this rig for $250 and send the proceeds to Jim's wife, Toni.

First call or email takes it away. There will be no others like this so this will be the only khukuri in the world exactly like this and that's the end of them.

I am sorry and sad that James did not get to see this rig in its final version. I know he would have loved it.

Uncle, that is a lovely rig. I'm not in the running to have it for my own. I never met Jim, or talked with him through the forum, but I'm very impressed how many people in other forums are remembering him. What a beautiful kurkhuri.

Beautiful! love that scabbard! I never knew James so I'll pass on this one...although I might have to send mail to Terry.

Uncle,

Beautiful knife, scabbard, and sentiment. I must hold off on this one, but hope I have some one such as yourself to do honour to my memory and family.
