This is a very talented guy right here. He does some really tight scrimshaw.

GCKG-008.jpg

These are some miniatures he did.

Here's our own Stephan Fowler getting the fire started in the forge.

GCKG-012.jpg

This is a guy named Donnie McNeely. He and his wife do Pure Country Handcrafted Creations. His work is very impressive. I love all kinds of flint knapping and Indian style crafts. This guys stuff is incredible.

Here he is teaching us a little knapping technique.

GCKG-024.jpg

This is a big piece of material for knapping. It's a man made material called marble slag. It's the big chunks of glass leftover from making marbles.

Here's part of the table for "the iron in the hat". I always clean up on these things so I buy a lot of tickets. You can pick up some pretty nifty stuff for the cost of a ticket, a buck a piece.

GCKG-037.jpg

Here's another show & tell table. Some great knives on this table.

GCKG-039.jpg

Here's my little section of table.

GCKG-046.jpg

Here's Andy's.

GCKG-046b.jpg

Here's some amazing stuff from Carl Rechsteiner. Hell of a nice guy too.

People checking out the "iron in the hat" table...

Here's Donnie finishing out an arrowhead. I sat there and watched this go from a piece of obsidian to an arrowhead in about an hour.

Here's a 360 degree panaramic of the area around the shop. From what I understand, their shop sits on a HUGE piece of land.

wow that looks like a good time. When I was in college I did illustrations for the anthropology/archeology department of found flint knapped tools. I got a book from the library for reference and the very first line of the book was that no modern man will ever make a stone tool as well as our primitive ancestors. Take that into consideration of how hard it is to actually do it.

Wait, no snow? Lucky bastages! We're set to get another half of a foot of snow and ice tonight :grumpy:.

Great pics, brother. Thanks for sharing.

Man, those pics look great. That weekend is such a good time. I was the lucky guy that got to take home the Carl Rechsteiner knife. Whoa. What a craftsman.

Looks Like a heck of a Time... Maybe Next Time I'm out in Savannah maybe I can extend the trip a little bit ;)
Great Looking handle material, Congrats on the awesome haul! Both you and Andy Scored!

LOL!! I just went back and noticed that! Sure enough. That's cold, Dylan! :)

Looks like a good time. Can't believe nobody had any Queso and chips at a party, though! I bet they do in Texas! ;)
