Amici,
How many members own as part of their collection, or better yet, carry an Ernie Journeyman as part of their EDC? What are you r thoughts on this now discontinued models performance? Inquiring minds would like to know..

Cheers,
Serge

I owned one a while back I liked it but didn't love it. The knife performed well and the handle was very comfortable. The Journeyman is one of the few Emerson models that was designed as an EDC/utility type knife first and a tactical knife second, hence the name. It's a solid design and if you are debating about getting one you should go for it. They will become increasingly difficult to find as time goes on.

I like mine a lot, especially after it was reground. It is indeed very comfortable as Silvanus has mentioned previously, and is a nice-sized blade for EDC if your area allows for it. It does have a large handle though, for its size.

Journeyman is one of the most underrated knives Emerson offers. Great ergos, thin in the pocket, plenty of blade, and a stout overall construction. If you want one you should jump on it. They are on the endangered species list.

I was considering a Journeyman a little while ago. Compared it to the CQC-10 and asked the folks here for opinions.

Ended up going with this (because it sits somewhere between my Commander and Roadhouse vs my 7's in size);

It is only just gaining pocket time as my other Emersons feel so different compared to other folders. That said, I am enjoying my CQC-10. Given the similar blade shapes I would say it's more likely than not that you'd enjoy the Journeyman...

Let us know what you end up doing...

Cheers,

Ben

Awesome combo there! I agree the Journeyman is very underrated. I it one of my most carried knives. The blade seems fairly short for the size of the handle but I don't mind since the handle is a perfect fit for my hand. It is very close to the Commander in overall size.

The Journeyman is a tool that has great ergos, plenty of blade for work/edc tasks, and outstanding overall construction. I got mine with a combo edge & I use it almost every day at work, as a utility knife. Highly recommended!

It feels great in your hand, reminds me of the CQC8.

Go for it, get one while you can.
