The ka bar camp knife bolo with metel butt cap

I just happened to win this ka bar bolo in an auction and it was intense. a bidder tried to snake it out from under me in the last two seconds of the auction but I got it .I couldn't find anything on the knife anywhere it was aggravating but of course thanks to all the great people here on blade forums I've gotten a lot of great info it came with the leather sheath and is a great looking knife it's definitely seen some use but all in all it looks to be in great shape. My question is this anybody have any ideas on refinishing it. It is a rare blade that I wold like to add to my heirloom collection for my son so any tips or history would be greatly appreciated it has the metal but cap and like is said there's literally nothing out there on it.
