THE Kelly Perfect

Whaaa???!! That's awesome! Were those produced in quantity or was it a special marketing piece?

I don't think I've ever seen an etch on one of those nicer than that, especially on the back side. Excellent addition to the collection.

Hey Op...Have you got a museum at your place? Some of your posts don't need any script at all, the axe heads just speak for themselves. More writing on some of your pieces than the Daily News.

I'm bidding on a KELLY SILVER EAGLE at present. The starting price is ok...It's the end price that concerns me.

Still have problems trying to up-load pics. Last time I had to send them to Peg to load for me.

If it's not confidential...about how many axes do you have?

regards...Frank

Frank - thanks for the kind words. No museum yet but I'm working on it. All told with axes and hatchets I have around 400.

Produced in some quantity but not many around. The bevels are so deep and the metal around the eye thin. It's not hand made but early drop forge no doubt before technology got decent.

400! Holy cow. Despite all that I don't suppose you also own a chainsaw. Now don't start gathering up or collecting those ya hear.

I have 2 chainsaws. I don't collect those lol. My dad does.

You really do have to try to pull start and then 'hang on to' an old direct-drive commercial Pioneer (that was the common brand here) from the 50s to appreciate how much power saws have evolved over the past 60 years. Caused most recreational or occasional users to seek out axes and hand saws. Ordinary folks liked to think they'd still have some measure of control, and some fingers or legs, after having tangled with a primitive power saw.

Your Kelly is simply beautiful. It is the nicest one that I have seen. They pop up on the action site now and then. But they are usually very worn. With stampings that are very hard to read. Nice score.

Chainsaw Acquisition Disorder= CAD

Had it, traded it for cheaper hobbies after my second vow of poverty(divorce).
