The Kershaw Ram utilizing the "pinkie flip"

I can't wait for mine!

for a second I was like "How did you get one!" then I remembered that you designed it. (duh!)

Good lord, reason number 113 I must have a RAM. This is getting bad. I haven't wanted a knife this bad since.....well since whatever it was that I absolutely had to have yesterday, but, that's not the point here....

Thanks for the vid Gavin.

I added the youtube linky so it can be viewed in the thread. :)

Very nice, Gavin. Thanks for the link. It just keeps getting better and better with this model. We're all really looking forward to it.

Just don't do a contest to give one away, because then Offsetlover will go trying to steal another knife from somebody!!:D

Cheers,
jon:)

I know. So just send one to me. I'm poor and can't afford new knives. :( Offsetlover can afford new knives AND wins one at least once a week! :D

Thanks for posting that Gavin!

The buzz generated around the production Ram already is amazing, you'd think it was a long awaited sprint run.

Really can't wait to try one.

Ditto. I can't wait!

That knife opens at warp speed. The flipper opens it blazing fast and I like the way it closes with a barely noticable shake of the wrist, :thumbup:awesome. It will definetly put my Griptilian into retirement.

This knife may help sell a lot of 0500's too.

I hope Kershaw makes more knives along the design of the Ram/Hawk Lock type knife. It may be better than Speedsafe and the other flip open design knives in my opinion. :D

blademaker (GavIN):

Thanks for taking the time to make and post the video for us. The RAM is definitely a winner!

I'm not sure how tactically sound the pinkie flip is, but it sure is cool!

Again, thanks!

I dunno, maybe that only happens in the northern hemisphere.

Hey, send one Down Under, and I'll tell you if it works on the opposite side of the world!:D

As jonnymac44 said, it just keeps getting better and better!

Don't do this to me... now I have to decide between this and the s60v Blur when it comes out. Or I could just get both :D.

Bookworm. . .i couldn't help but 'accidentally' leave a Ram in my pocket after the shot show. so don't tell Thomas :)
2Brothers, how do i post a link like yours? It looks much better than my lame link, thanks. . .
so i think that the 'pinkie flip' would work in a tactical situation. . .just think of the look on the other guys face when you whip out your knife and open it with your pinkie. ok, maybe that wouldn't work, but it's still fun to do :)

I'm pretty good with an E.T., although i'm a little out a practice. I was never as impressive as someone is with a bali. . . hmm. . .maybe another video is in order :)

Gavin

Okmegawsh......just more fuel for the ever growing fire!!
I don't want one.......I NEED one!!!
Thanks for the video Gavin. ( I still think you should have took me up on my offer) :D

Actually, I've been practicing the pinkie flip with my ZT0300 (which, not being anything like a RAM obviously takes a little more effort but is easier than you would think), and as the knife opens you can move right into a reverse grip. I would think that's tactical enough for those that like to use that grip, so I'll have to retract my earlier statement...except for the fun part...:)

Speaking of the E.T., it's amazing how you guys took the internal T.O.A.D. design principle and used the whole frame to do it externally with the E.T.

Thanks for the great Hawk designs...please keep them coming!

I remember looking at the E.T. on a napkin in a coffee shop, wondering if it was even going to be possible to open. . . it was a lot of fun to actually play with one, and realize that it could be toggled open and closed.

lots of designs coming up. . .just have to make them. there are several on the table, but i'm not sure which one is going to move to the top of the priority list.

Been staring at the video even more, and I'm not sure if this is possible, given the angles, but would it be possible to hold it closed in a reverse grip, use your pinkie (and maybe ring) finger to push the handle (and thus the flipper) against the bottom of your palm to flip it open?

Does anyone have technical specs or diagrams for the Ram lock? It would be interesting to evaluate it on more than just an aesthetic/ergonomic level. How strong it looks, if it's going to be easy to clean, if any particular grip might compromise the lock, that kind of thing.
