So this morning I want out to take care of a wounded chicken, and I thought I'd share.
It sure was a cold morning!
But the dog didn't mind.....
Beautiful woods, Man I love Kentucky!
The dog sure is happy to be out!
Today's agenda....
The tool for the day....
It was cold, so first I worked on a little fire....
With the help of Cave Runs finest fatwood, and MI's superb Birch bark:
Fire!
After a little plucking I soon discovered that this little hen was no meat market...
Yep, This here is the whole breast:

A quick skewer:
And some spice:
And a little cooking (this pic doesn't show the finished result, yes, I cooked it more.
)
After I tasted it I had a great idea of what to do with it:

I hated to waste it, but it was awful! I cooked it poorly and the hen was quite tough as it was. I think my dandelions earlier this year were better...

Oh well, the trip wasn't a total loss, I did end up making some Bannock and tea.... (sorry, no pics)
