After reading the Kizer thread I wanted to get one, but the debate over who owned the designed rights(britton or Kizer) kept me away. So I decided to try and find an original designed Chinese knife. As you know high end chinese knives are very popular in russia so I came across a original design named "The Killer Whale" which would soon be released by a Russian retailer I quickly emailed a dozen suppliers on a Chinese website and I found the guy who had access to 2 pieces(apparently the Russians bought the entire 300 pcs run).
I payed $200 which is a bit more than I expected, but the seller assured me it was because this was a relatively new company making small runs, plus the fact that most of their materials(6AL4V and S35VN) are imported into china. Also the Russian dealer sells them for a bit more.
This is what arrived(excuse the crappy cell pics):
Let's see how massive this knife is(0561 comparison)
Pros:
IMO fit and finish is a bit above ZT and Lionsteel.
There is no movement is the blade, good centering, and early lockup
Good detent
hardware has good HT and not soft like other Chinese knives
super smooth
Cons:
I have no way to know for sure if the blade is really S35, but It would be hard to think they put in this much work and are using some cheap steel.
Wish it had a flipper
I like big overbuilt knives, but we'll see how much I end up carrying it
Hopefully this company makes another run soon, and starts releasing more designs.
Also I will not link to the knife for the people selling them are not payed dealers. Google is your friend.
