Since I have been so mean to my 9 I felt it deserved a little something special. All I have ever done to it is chop and baton and generally "abuse" it. It has never complained and it has always done what I asked. I ground the ramp off since I dont like it on that knife. Lots of my other Beckers have nice scales or I have striped or polished them. Maybe treated them to a nice patina. The 9 I havent stripped so it just looks half naked. I like seeing its scars :) Once when I was batoning a log by our wood stove I got the blade too close and gouged out a big chip of my stove. The 9 didnt seem to mind.

So today I put new micarta on the old work horse. Then just so he didnt get a big head I put him right back to work.

Nice, but didn't it get a butt lift? :D I also like the worn out look on my 9. Plan on keeping it like that, until I mod it.

The king certainly ages well, it just gets more distinguished with use. Looks fantastic Psy

Sweet! I have thought about taking the ramp off of one of my kings, haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Micarta makes it a whole different knife doesn't it? Feels so solid.

It made it a little more balanced instead of being tip heavy. I didnt chop with it today so Im not sure of the results but it feels better in hand.

Psy - if it feels a little less tip heavy you can move your grip back a little and maybe go with a three finger grip. I've been talking with a friend who loves khukri knives. He says that in Nepal they almost always use a two finger grip when chopping. I'm not ready for anything that radical but might eventually get used to a 3/4 grip.
