I know, nobody wants to see this, because you're all waiting on the big Becker / Ka-Bar releases. Too bad, the king reigns supreme and he needs some attention!

I finally picked one of these up and immediately went to work on it. I found this spray stripper at Menards. It worked, but no nearly as good as Jasco, IMO. I'll go back to Jasco gel or spray in the future. So, the 9 and the 7 went in the bath, came out mostly stripped, were sanded down, and then I put the patina on the 9. I used a Vietnamese chili garlic sauce, purely for the fact that it had a couple of tablespoons remaining in jar, which was well over a year old. It turned out nicely, I'd say!

On to the pics, since nobody reads this drivel, anyway.

Damn n8, that looks nice...how long did you keep the chili sauce on there?

It was on there for about an hour. After that, I wiped it down, rinsed it off, and oiled it with some canola oil.

Sweetness. Whats the 7 look like? I have a new fondness for that ''lil brother''.

I really like the micarta! Nice work.

Those are micarta handles, right?

The micarta is Saint Cutlery "black", but unless it's wet, it looks grey.

Thrill - the 7 is getting a full artistic etch treatment and I plan to have that done sometime in July. For now, it's oiled and awaiting time for me to work on it.

I want one like that, do those handles come with the blade?

No, they come with the plastic (grivory) handles. These are micarta, made by Saint Cutlery. Ka-Bar makes the tan / brown micarta handles for it.

Honestly, if you like a big knife, the BK9 is the way to go. I went with the BK7 first and it's a good knife, but the BK9 is in a class by itself.
