Got to the NYCKS just after opening and went right to the Hinderer table, filled out my lottery ticket, met and chatted with Rob Orlando for a few. I wandered around killing time, saw some nice stuff, but nothing that made me crazy.
With a boatload of other folks I made my way into the room next door, Rick had a few opening words and apologized for not having any customs, he talked about all the new equipment and how getting up to speed on it had sucked up much of his time.
He started pulling tickets, the first was a no show (Really?) I was shocked to hear him call my name on the second pull.
I was quick, I had already decided exactly what I wanted. I was done for the day so I headed back to my truck with the little white box tucked in my pocket. That was a long damn walk, I couldn't exactly take it out on the streets of Jersey City. It was worth the wait though.

Yes, a little DLC'd goodness. I'm stoked, first lottery I ever entered and I come home with a black DLC XM-18, life is good.
On a side note, I've always noticed a bit of attitude here and there among knife makers and some of their people. There was some evident today, a few tables where the folks behind the table were sitting, on their phones, reading, whatever, not real interested in the attendees. I typically handle that by being just as disinterested in their stuff. Honestly, none of that whatsoever at the Hinderer table. Real, nice guys who we're happy to take the time to chat, very impressive.
All in all a pretty strong day. Now, do I put contrasting scales on it or leave it stealthy?
