The knife in this picture?

That is the discontinued Benchmade CQC-7, chisel ground design by Emerson. His own company now produces a like model.

Tuff,

The knife on the bottom right of the page is a now discontinued Benchmade/Emerson designed CQC-7.

These are still available through Emerson, I believe. I've also seen a few on various online stores. Try www.arizonacustomknives.com under the factory or specials page if you're looking for one. I think I saw one there. Or just go to www.emersonknives.com

Tuff,
The model# is the 970. It is the Benchmade Emerson CQC-7. It is truly a great knife. Hope this helps.

The knife pictured is a BM 970. This was a licensed version of the Ernie Emerson CQC-7, but differed in several ways. The quality was, as may be expected from the much lower price, not as good. This series of BM knives had the unfortunate distinction of having some of the worst liner locks ever made.

The blade length on the Emerson CQC-6 and CQC-7 was the same; only the handle was different. The BM 970 had a 3 1/4" blade, the BM 975 had a 3 7/8" blade; at least the specimens I just measured were this length.

The handle of the BM 970 and BM 975 were about the same shape. The CQC-6 was a simple tapered handle, while the CQC-7 handle was larger, with a flare at the butt.

BM NEVER, NEVER made a CQC- ANYTHING.

When Ernie decided that he didn't want to renew BM's license about a year ago, there was a real furor on the BM forum, as parts such as blades were almost instantly no longer available.

Hope this helps, Walt
