The knife that could have saved my life!

So I just got home from work about 10 minutes ago and figured I would share my "near death experience" that I had while leaving work!

I work out at a manufacturing shop about 4 miles from where I currently live, it is out in the middle of nowhere surrounded by forest. I am always the last person there and it is my job to lock up and set the alarm before I head home for the night. About 3 weeks back when I was working there someone tried to break in the front office and the alarm ended up going off and the police were called and blah blah blah. Since then I have been paying more attention when I leave work to see if any cars are in the parking lot or hanging around on the street.

Tonight I looked around and didn't see any cars or people so I left the building and turned around to lock up the door and set the alarm. As I turned around to lock the door I put my hand in my pocket to get my keys when I heard a noise behind me. Figuring it was nothing I kept going, I got the door locked then went to punch in the security code. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks, I could hear sticks cracking and footsteps coming up behind me, total murder movie I know! At this point my mind was going a mile and minute and I figured I was going to get jumped and they would go into the shop and take thousands of dollars worth of power tools or I would end up being shot or something. At this point I was freaking out and I punched in the wrong code on the door intentionally so that the alarm would start to go off (it automatically calls the police). As soon as I finished punching in the code I went to reach for the small of my back where I ALWAYS have my ESEE 4 or BK2. Well, today I was late for work and so I just left home real quick and I FORGOT it on my desk! I quickly moved my hand up to my front pocket where I normally have my ZT350 or another large folder, well same story there! Then I remembered today I had put on a necker that I had recently got, a small Kiridashi I had gotten here on the forums. By this point I thought my heart was going to explode out of my chest, I unzipped my jacket and pulled out my little knife. I figured I was screwed already since all I had was this little tiny 1" blade and I could already tell the footsteps were only a couple of feet behind me. I turned around expecting the worst, but instead almost started laughing.

Standing about 6 feet away from me were two deer that had been passing from the stream that runs behind the shop over to a field area that was just across the street. They looked WAY more scared than I was, that's for sure. We all had a little group stare down before they took off down the parking lot and off into some more trees. I put my little knife away and typed in the right code so the alarm wouldn't go off. After that I ran for my car and got the hell out of dodge. This how incident only took maybe 15 seconds, but oh boy did it feel like 15 minutes.

Hahaha! It's funny you should say that!

Think my Miniature Pinscher would do the job? He thinks he's a full size...

Or maybe if my Mini Australian Shepherd wasn't always asleep... lazy bum.

Cool Dogs. If each dog latched on to one of the bad guy's pant cuffs, they could trip him I guess. ! Ha Ha. Neat dogs. Tell me more about Aussie Shephard please. Interested in a dog like that.

My Aussie is a 3 year old Miniature Blue Merle Female! The full size Aussies are normally like 50-60 pounds, where my mini is about 25 pounds. She is a little over the normal weight but that is mostly because we are outside working or running a lot of the time! I must say out of all the dogs I have had (German Shephard, Labrador and a Golden Retriever) the Aussie is by FAR the smartest I have ever had. She actually cleans up her own toys after she has played with them! They are normally are very attached to their masters... ours doesn't like my sister or my mom much at all. She HATES strangers until she gets to know them. They can be very shy dogs, which kinda sucks at times. It tooks like 3 or 4 months before she finally started to warm up to the Miniature Pinscher and even now 6 months later she puts up with him, but doesn't really like him...

They really are great dogs! They are sooo full of energy at times it is crazy! At the same time, once they are tired, well they are tired! She sleeps a TON after we have had busy days.

Thanks. We have a mini Schnauzer and he is 10 years old. Starting to loose some steam and getting a little snappy. Eventually a new pup will be on the menu. Love the Schnauzer. Been a fantastic dog. You have your hands full!

Oh you have no idea! My backyard shared a fence with 4 other houses making a total of 9 dogs outside at a time! 2 full grown Doberman, 1 Labrador, 2 Bernese Mountain Dogs, 1 Golden Retriever, 1 Weimaraner and then my Miniature Pinscher and Miniature Australian Shepherd! It is like a freaking zoo back there!
