The knife to get

Herbertz dubble edged thrower (n°102512)
This is a 25cm long knife with a 15cm dagger blade and heavy handle. Because its so heavy it throws really great, I make 1 rotation every 2meters.
This was the second knife I bought , and still one of the best I have. I've been throwing for about a year now. I bought a second one of these about a month ago. They only cost €16 each and come with a leather pouch.

I have a pic , but can't upload it here, pm me your e-mailadress and I'll mail you a couple of pics.

I started throwing with a K-BAr Marine Corps std issue. You can literally throw any knife. For my indoor range in the basement I use a set of the inexpensive hibben small throwers. I also have a Cold Steel thrower, 3 axes, a couple of tomahawks too and 5 or 6 others. The choices are limitless. My personal preference for outdoor throwing are the larger Hibbens. If you want to tinker, grind out a simple set of your own on a bench grinder. My brother bought me the Hibben throwing axe for Christmas last year and it is fun to throw. It takes some getting used to because of its curved handle. My best advice is to start out cheap, get decently proficient and then invest in some quality knives. I would also recommend the John Bailey Recreational Knife Throwing Video. It is very easy to start throwing using his no spin counting method. I was throwing for years before I saw his video and was able to integrate his instruction into my style with ease, and made some improvements too.

My two bits worth.

I agree with Papa - Cold Steel TFT or big Hibben are the best blades to start with. Then you may consider some Branton's throwers or Tru-Bal #79.
