What is the coolest knife you wanted that you did not buy? For me it was a Des Horn flipper folder that I saw on www.knifeart.com. It had hippo ivory handles and nuggeted titanium bolsters and a stamascus blade. The price was $650, pretty cheap for a Des Horn knife, but I could not bring myself to pull the trigger even though in real terms I spent more than that on several other knives. I was hoping to get that knife this summer when I noticed a while back that it was gone, oh well. I know I'm not the only knifenut that this has happened to. Tell your stories!;)

a Mayo baby hawkbill for $450 last summer I sepnt 3-4 days debating with myself and when I finally called to get one they wher all gone. About a month later Tom stopped accepting orders.

Benchmade 941D2CF that I found at a local shop for $125.00, I passed it up and when I went back to get it, it was GONE.

2 years ago. . .I passed on a Carson auto !

Every hear of that song, "Like A Virgin ?"

See the word. . ."Virgin ?" Sub in the word dumb @#$ ! That's me ! :)

My all time regret concerning knives occurred about 15 years ago. This won't appeal to you younger gents but will to the folks who remember him.

Some knifemaker from Canada named Yvon Vachon, was advertising a miniature Swiss Army "Champion" in "Knives Illustrated" magazine. The Champion had the most implements of any Swiss Army knife at the time. He had a picture of one he had already made next to a quarter in the advertisement and it was SO tiny! It was an astounding 1" closed! Can you believe that? He was going to make three more of them and was taking orders.

I wrote him a letter, (computers were NOT in vogue then!), asking what the cost would be. He wrote back and said the price would be $550.00 delivered! I sat on his letter for a couple of weeks trying to decide and finally decided not to do it because I thought $550.00 was an extravagant amount of money. What a mistake!

Yvon Vachon eventually became the PREMIER miniature maker of all time! He also made actual firing miniature guns as well as knives and even made the miniature ammunition for his guns! He was a genius and an absolute craftsman of the finest degree.

He became famous for his creations and requests for his exquisite craftsmanship started commanding very high prices. Unfortunately, Yvon committed suicide a couple of years ago.

I've seen prices of those miniature Champions command prices of $5,000.00 and higher. It really isn't that I could have had one for 1/10 the price, (which would have been nice), it's just that I could have had my very own museum piece! God rest his soul!

Arrrrrrrrgh :(....lol.....

Geeeesh, some of you guys come up with brutal topics!

Heck, I really don't know.., but there's been a few... :(

about 6 years ago I was down in jacksonville fla. at a store called world of weapons looking at BM autos and I didn't buy the model 7500, it's like a pocket samurai w/ a 4" blade. instead I bought the model 1000, the spike. I'm still looking for the 7500.

world of weapons, where have i heard that name before?:D :D

OH WAIT, Bladeforums.com has the same ip address of world of weapons :D :D

(guys, for yourself put them together)

I didn't buy a Busse Basic 7 for $80 when 1SKS changed hands. Sat there and thought about it for a day and they were gone.

The original CRK ATS-34 small Sebenza. It was just way outa my financial reach at the time.:(

Paul

A Microtech UT6... it is too expensive when you buy it from France because of the taxes. And there are no distributors in my country... :(

A PC Balisong 4" wee hawk, with US NAVY stamped on the blade and US PAT # on the other side of the blade. I believe this would be the same class as their custom line. Smooth swinging and heavy like a brick. Unfortunately the price was so far beyond my means (still was a student in 1985/6.

About 12 years ago I went to an auction preview with my parents. They had a group of 3 knives that I was interested in but we didn't go back to the auction that night. When I got home I looked up one of them in one of my price guides and it was an original Scagel hunting knife with about a 4in blade, with sheath!! I didn't really know what it was at the time. I wish I did!

When Cutlery World was still open in Madison, I was offered one of the original remaining First Blood knives made by Jimmy Lile for the movie.

I had the 600 dollars in my wallet, but the knife looked a bit rough, and I passed. A few years later I heard that the owner of A.J. Russell was paying over 4,000 dollars for each of these knives.

A few months ago I could have bought one of those NICE little Case boot knives (the one with the narrow coffin handle and the dagger blade) from a pawn shop for $35. I passed on it, then went back the following week-end and it was gone.:(.

I haven't been buying high quality knives long enough to have many regrets in this department. Quite simply, if there is a knife I want, and I have the cash or even the means to get the cash. I will buy the knife.

There was a Viele proto with ivory scales sitting on Arizona Custom Knives forever. Some other custom purchase kind of got me thinking of getting it, and then one day I decided, yes!

Alas - gone from the website, missed it by two days.

If one of you out there has it - email me, I am sure we can work a deal!
