Foreword: The catalyst to this post, contained herein, may be political in nature, but the post itself is not. Please read the entire post before responding and stay on topic.
I was reading some news articles while waiting for the baby to fall asleep and ran across one from the AP about a couple of officers shot while serving a warrant in Georgia.
One was seriously injured, but they're both expected to make a full recovery. The gunman was killed.
In the article I saw what may be one of the saddest paragraphs that I've ever seen.
It's circled there in the middle. A tiny, unassuming little thing that speaks volumes. "Smith is white. Patterson is white and Wynn is black."
Smith is the gunman and the other two are the officers.
The fact that the journalist and I'm sure many of the readers found that information relevant to the story is quite sad. It really shouldn't be.
I just want to say that I for one am grateful that we don't let this same sort of nonsense carry over into our community.
Yes, we may on occasion bicker about the merits of some lesser model of knife, a grammatical error in a post or whether or not one steel, sharpener, manufacturer is better than another, but as a whole we are a solid community.
We help one another find information. We support each other in our odd obsessions and we band together in the face of opposition. (Thanks Critter!)
Call it a forum, a community or a brotherhood. We're lucky to have one another and we're lucky to have Bladeforums.
