My first post. I had the good fortune to be able to attend the Knifemakers' Guild show yesterday and ran into the nicest group of custom knifemakers you could ever ask for. Special thanks to Wayne Hendrix, an avid hunter, who worked for George Herron at one point and speaks of Mr. Herron reverently. My friend didn't bring any cash and was admiring one of Wayne's knives. Wayne gave him the knife and said "take it home, try it out, if you like it send me a check". Same thing happened with me and Dietmar Kressler. I left my checkbook in the car, to keep it at arms length...and make me think twice...it turns out Dietmar brought two knives which were not on display. I asked him if he was hiding anything and he showed me the most beautiful stag hunter that I couldn't resist, at a very fair price. I said I would go to my car for my checkbook and he said "NO, take the knife home and send me a check when you can"...I insisted on paying him immediately but the trust and integrity these guys display is a credit not only to them but to the whole industry. I'm sure there are many more examples like this but a good deed needs to be recognized and in my book these two guys are top notch.
