Since I have gotten my Sebs I have changed the lanyard a few times. I like to fancy them up a bit or do something really different with them every few months. The following pics represent the oldest lanyards to the newest ones that were attached today. Does anyone else do this as well, or am I a lone nutcase with a lanyard fetish?

I'm already planning the layout for the Christmas season. I'll post pics when its time.

Hi!

Your photos won't show up. You need to have them on-line somewhere and then link to. As I'm looking at the source code for the photos, it seems that you have linked to them directly from your C-drive. This is something that might work for you personally, i.e. you might see the photos ok, but nobody else will be able to see them (as nobody has them on their C-drives). Or if you tried to upload the images to BF, then maybe there was some problem. But I don't know anything about that...

Hugo.

Here we go.

Those beads are pretty cool, but I don't know if I'd want all that stuff hanging off my knife!
I've used a few different colors:

Great lanyards. Any of you guys know of a thread that tells how to tie those? I've had my small Trailing Moon for about a month now, and have yet to take it apart cause I don't know how to retie the lanyard. Thanks. Jeff

I want to dress my small up with just some plain brown leather/rawhide. Where do you guys get the stuff? Do you get it from a camping store, or shoe repair, or somewhere else? I want some really nice stuff that will last. I think the leather just adds a touch of class and gives it a more dressy look.

Thanks...JT

I got my rawhide form a local cobbler. Beads were found at the Rag Shop 1 town over.

Used Small Sebenza -- $200

Gas for trip to the Cobbler --$.50

Dark Brown Rawhide -- $1.50

Two hours later, minor carpel tunnel syndrome, and the satisfaction from knowing you can retie the lanyard yourself -- Priceless.

Wish I had a picture to show, but trust me it looks a lot better than that black cord and it is nice and tight. Thanks for the tips.

JT

You can get rawhide from the craft section of your local WalMart. I personally prefer the stuff that has smooth leather on one side, and rawhide on the other. A local craft store even has rawhide in a dizzying array of colors.

But if you want to tie a coil knot using rawhide, you'll want to soften up the leather first. Rawhide, by itself, is just too stiff to hold a tight knot. I use neetsfoot oil, but plain old vegetable oil might also do the trick.

135.......Those look good. May try that 'bead thing' myself.

OwenM ........ Your blue one looked the best, although the one on the knife now gives the blue a close run for the money. Where did you get those colors. If you have easy access to it get me some please. I'll make it good to you.
'The bug' bit hard Owen, I now own 5; yes five........ The knife budget is blown for a long time.........:(
Later,
Chuck

Good grief, man. I've got a little extra of the blue, and the green (what's on the knife in the pic). Enough for a couple of lanyards in each color. Can't remember if I've got your address, so email it to me, and I'll send you some cord.

Toolin,
I got the various colors of cord from a backpacking store-The Happy Hiker, in Gatlinburg, TN.
Pretty common stuff, though, at stores geared for outdoors activities. It's 3mm cord, btw. I think some have posted that they found some at REI. www.rei.com

Thanx Owen, I will visit my local Eastern Mountain Sports and try to find some.

God, not only was tying my new laynard super hard, it took forever to. I got a blue 2mm cord that matches the blue in the spacer and thumbstud. It has black spots and looks alot better then the orginal. I always wished the laynard that came with my benza was a bit longer, and I got my wish.:)

Remster, how are the beads staying on the rawhide? Is it friction or knots. Its too hard to tell from your pics. BTW, I got a nice chocolate colored rawhide from a craft store and I like it a lot better that the paracord.
