This is a hawk I've been working on over the last couple weeks. The reason for the name is mainly because I can't remember how I totally forged it. The head was hand forged from a 6" X 1" square piece of 1084/95. The cutting edge is 4" and the head length is around 9". The haft is hickory wrapped in buckskin with 3 turks head knots. Its a real hand full.......

Back in my drinkin days I would wake up and go out to the shop to see what I had made at night. I used to wonder how I made a lot of stuff. :)

Will, I'll forge more but the steel has a mind of its own. Normally it tells me the shape it wants to be instead of viseversa. I just go with it........ :D

Terry, As far as throwing them they all stick once you find the right distance.

Tracy, I get all my hawk steel at Pacific Machine and Tool Steel here in Portand. Only problem is when I get it I have to buy whole bars and there anywhere from 18' to 24'.
