I remember a while back we'd kick up a thread that shows the last couple of sheaths done for the year, just as the year is about to turn, below are a couple that I just finished up today and will head out in tomorrow's mail and that'll be it for this year's stuff.

The one, well as you can see is Piratey ;) the other has what I call Dragon scales, it's a tri-corner basket weave but the Dragon scales conjours up knights of old. A little trickier to do with the dual tone dyes, have to paint around the embossings very carefully so as not to have the black dye weep into the scales, then I dyed the scales a saddle tan so it isn't as stark a contrast to the black sheath, then using Hi-lighter to bring the detail out of the edges of the embossings.

So yep, if you JUST finished up something that would be considered one or two of your last sheaths for this year, go ahead an post in this thread;

Good idea! Here is one from me, not the last since I'm finishing one today but close. Plain pouch for LM tool, with extra compartment inside for the replacement blades. As requested made from dense, 2,5 mm leather - for every day use in a workshop.

Happy New Year to all of you !

This is one I have just finished , and it will be my last for the year .
I couldn't decide if I wanted a vertical or horizontal sheath , so I split the difference and made it at 45 degrees :)

Happy New Year .

Ken

My last two of the year.
Finished the black one yesterday. Brown one, a couple days before.

Did the knife handles too.
CVA Bowie kit from the 70's (just completed this week) and a Snody Texas Hunter that I bought from him last January.

Very clean work there sir! and knife maker/finisher as well ? cool stuff !

Thank you.
Not a knife maker. How about a kit blade finisher?

:)

Here's my last one of 2013, finished December 26th. This is the first one I've done since I got the Paul Long sheath video, and the first since I had a swivel knife, and the first time I've done the belt loop as a separate piece. I wanted a few more stamps also, but didn't end up with any, so I used the same basketweave as always. Wickett and Craig leather.

In either case, nice work sir!

and Jason, that looks pretty cleanly made too !

That's really nice Jason.
I don't think I've ever seen a sheath with the loop inside of it like that.
Pretty cool.

Thanks again Gary.
The knife kit blades are a ton of fun.
Mostly done with hand tools.
I bought a 1x30 grinder but that lets me make my mistakes faster.

A big file with a chunk of 80 grit belt bunny clipped to it does most of the work, and then finer and finer grits of sandpaper.

With your good hand skills you'd do a great job.
And have a use for all those odd size leather scraps
Go for it :D

I've made a few knives over the years but lack even a drill press right now :( here's one I made a few years ago, Tanto of A2 steel, nice 11 1/2" long blade, chiseledged zero grind bevel and stainless Tsuba with cord wrap over red sting ray, sucker was sharp! It resides down south with a friend of mine in his collection...

But any more, making a blade, getting it heat treated and finishing up, might do some more sometime, but just need the passion to get that going again, probably not any time soon...

I don't even compare to you guys but here are the last few I finished -

I have only made about 15 or so sheaths and seem to get a little better with each one :)

Thanks,
Nick.
