Hello, everyone. Thanks for having a look. These are the last four knives I've finished, wrapping up my first six months of knife making. It's become a bit of an obsession. They're all O1 and all 1/8" except for the boot knife which is 3/32" O1. I use instant coffee for the patina and have been doing a bit of experimenting with the hand rubbed finishes to see how each grit makes the patina look. If you've got any opinions, or advice, I'm all ears.
The boot knife is turning out to be the most popular knife I make, which was a bit of a surprise because I've alway thought boot knives were silly. I tried to make mine a bit more versatile than just the typical dagger style I see so much of so I gave it a bit of belly and the jimping runs almost the entire length of the blade which makes it pretty handy for choking up with a thumb or index finger. Those also get a belt sheath since not too many people want to cruise around with a knife in their boot all day but also don't want to leave their new purchase sitting on a shelf all the time either.
The camp knives are rough ideas that are getting less rough. I kept the natural canvas micarta handled one for myself and I'm very happy with it. That's the first nice knife I've had a chance to make myself and also my first ever non-stainless knife and man do I love O1. I'm excited to get into other steels but for now I'm very happy. I've been experimenting with the palm swells a bit, trying to move them around since in my hand, many knives have their swells too far forward. These are pushed back a bit and for me, they're very comfortable but I'll wait to pass judgment until I've heard some other opinions from customers.
Anyway, that's it. Thanks for having a look.
