My HWK (Hazard Woods Knife) model has been by far my all time best seller since I started making it last year. It's a really great design but I think it's time to retire it. This is a special one with a 4 1/2" blade, nice cocobolo scales, and leather sheath... Here it is... The Last HWK..:o

Oh no! Sad to see this retire as it was on my list! Why retire it if it's doing so well? Tired of making this style? Always love you blades.

That is a real bummer. I was hoping to pick one of these up this year.
I understand that all creative people can get bored with reproducing the same thing over and over again, and that this will spur you on to new designs. But it is very sad....

So, if it's being retired, what's stepping up to replace it?

I think I just want something new. I've made so many of these. Right now that I have this last one finished, I don't have any HWK's on order so it might be a good time to retire it. I have this new design here that I've sold as just a simple woods knife but I'm naming it "LWK" (Laconico Woods Knife). What do you guys think of it?

Of course I think it is awesome, as all your products are...you are keeping the pattern, right?

So the difference is a more gradual curve to the blade? The handle looks similar, except for the guard. It looks great, but I've gotta say that I think that the more abrupt curve to the blade in you HWK models is a great visual identifier to mark your knives. It made them instantly recognizeable.

You're the boss though. I'm sure that your new model, and future ones will do great.

I'm just glad that I ordered my HWK when I did. Wonderful knife!

I am sure glad I have two HWK's in my collection.

The LWK is a little more Bushcrafter shaped than the HWK. The curves are more flowing, more artistic I guess. More evolution than revolution. Handle is very similar but I do prefer the finger guard on the HWK.

A very nice knife that is going on my wish list.

I like the flow of the new one a bit better then the original. They both look like great knives!

I like the longer belly of the new one better...for me, this design has better flow to the shape, nice one Ray.

Dang it!!!!! I shouldve ordered a bigger one to go with the smaller one I just got from you. They are both awesome knives though, It wont stop me from ordering another one.

The edge of the LWK has a more gradual and continuous curve and the tip drops slightly lower. The guard is also different with the scales going all the way down. The new design I think looks more bushcrafty and less "tactical". I even made this hidden tang version below as a special order but won't be producing it this way. I like the HWK a lot but I made so many and don't really want to make anymore right now:o.

I appreciate all the comments... Keep em coming, good and bad:D. Thanks!

Beautiful man.

How did you fill the gaps?

Marion

Marion,
What do you mean by gaps? It's basiaclly a hidden tang/ full tang combo. It has scales on the sides like a regular full tang knife, but the top and bottom are also covered instead of being exposed. The sides are linen micarta and the top and bottom are paper for a little contrast. If the tang didn't extend out the butt, this would be a frame tang handle. There are no gaps!
