I am very proud and happy to add Bob Doggett’s latest creation to my collection. It is his second prototype NY Special folder. The design is based on the fixed blade NY Special, originally created by Bob Loveless.

This edition features a 3 5/16 inch BG 42 blade, with an overall length of 7 3/4 inches. It has 416 SS bolsters and blue anodized jeweled Titanium liners. The scales are green Micarta. The action is extremely smooth and lock up is no less than what we have come to expect from a custom knife maker. The lines are crisp and clean and the knife fits very comfortably in my hand. This is only Bob’s seventh folder, but the craftsmanship and attention to detail are superb. As I said, I am proud to add this piece to my collection.

I have some photos, but since I'm not a Gold Member, I can't post them. They were taken by Bob and I have his permission to use them. If anyone would like to see them or post them for me, contact me by e-mail and I will get them to you. Thanks.

First, I would like to thank Dan for posting the photos of my new knife.

And, yes Chip, Bob does do some beautiful work. I first saw some of Bob's work in the "For Sale by Makers Forum", and inquired about his NY Special Folder. He told me that both protos were spoken for, and he'd be making a high end auto soon. Then about 3 weeks ago he wrote to me and told me the buyer of the second proto had to back out, and asked, "Was I still interested?". I said, "Yes" in a new York minute to his New York Special. It was a tough 3 weeks waiting for the knife to be completed, but it was well worth every minute of it. Thanks you Dogman!

I bought Bob's fixed blade NY Loveless Special with damascus blade. Its as nice as your folder looks. I liked it so much I commissioned him to make a Nocturnus Recurved Fighter with damascus blade, blued bolsters and ivory handles. He was great in helping me decide on just what I wanted. Can't wait to see it.
