Hello Everyone,

So here's our version of a military knife. It's an automatic knife using our new 'cross fire' safety. The idea is that the trigger and safety are combined so that you can unlock the safety and fire the knife in one operation. The animation down below does a perfect job of showing how this thing works.

Another idea we thought would be perfect for a military style knife is having an onboard screwdriver that could also be used as a prybar. And if you have a screwdriver/pry bar why not add a bottle opener. This idea came up after regrinding a friends knife where he had broke the tip off. The problem is simple, when you only have your knife it becomes your 'everything tool' and in his case a prybar. With an onboard screwdriver you'll never be in a situation where you use the tip of your knife to pry with.

And ofcourse this knife has our 'grip clip' on it, but in yet anther variation.

Hope you guys like it. . .

Gavin

That's downright cool looking! Its profile looks like that of a jet fighter.

Brilliant design and build. The grooves for the thumb rest look a little painful though.

What steel was used for the blade and multitool?

Actually they're quite comfortable. . .it's hard sometimes to draw something up and know how it's going to feel in the hand. But this shape feels surprisingly good in the hand. If by any chance you're going to be at blade this year, stop by my table and try it in your hand. . . :)

The steel is 154 cpm on both the blade and driver. . . the hardness on the driver is around 55ish and the blade is 60-61.

oh and there is supposed to be an animation, but i don't know how to upload it yet. . . so animation coming soon

gavin....look great...i love the design and the screwdriver attachment....ryan:thumbup:

I love it!!!! I want one! everything about it is cool! when will these be for sale?

Tinwiskers,

On this design we decided to only make 20 prototypes, and each one is marked prototype 1/20, 2/20 and so on. I have 4 left, one that is ready to ship, although i want to take it to my next show so i'm going to hold on to it until after the show. And the other 3 are still in pieces. . .not sure when i'm going to have them finished. I believe that steeladdiction and bladeart have one or two left.

I've always had a spot in my heart for knives from the Hawk bros.
Always function before fashion:thumbup:
I like this one a lot.
Now, if that screwdriver incorporated a can opener...

Gavin, any plans on having a knife that looks like this in a non-auto version? I live in Canada. :grumpy:

Actually we have talked about that, even drew one up that was pretty close to this but a manual version. The stars and stripes would need to be changed, as they don't work very well as an opening hole, at least in the current configuration. At the moment we haven't decided one way or the other, if we do I think we might decide to do more of a midtech route with it. I haven't really shown this knife around too much, so maybe after blade i'll have a better idea of what we're doing.

Hi Gavin,

A monumental knife by many measures. Now that I own five of your knives, it looks as though one more might be in my future.

There is a LOT of engineering in this, and all your other works. Cool.

Tell Mr. Eisen how much I enjoyed his clear photos. :D

I'll be at Blade, as I have the past few years. I'd love to see one, then.

Thanks for the post.

Coop,

I'm glad you like our latest. . .up to five now, not bad at all! What ones do you have? i think i asked this before but can't seem to remember, i guess i should have a better bookkeeping scheme other than sticky notes. . .lol

I'm not sure if i'll have any left by blade, but we decided to keep one, so there will be one there to look at :)

I'm hoping that Glenn will be popping in soon to post that animation of how the lock works. . .

Here you go Gavin.
Thanks Coop!

Of course, this is just showing how the lock works, the blade would normally be flying open. ;)

It would be great if a similar non-auto version of this came to fruition. I happen to think it is one of the coolest looking folders I have seen.
