This is not a post meant for criticizing the quality of Chinese made knives of Taylor Brands LLC, Hopefully all that sort of thing can be left swept under the carpet.

This post is just an observation of the latest line of knives on offer!! I Opened the front pages of the latest SMKW Xmas Catalogue. I have a feeling way back It was mentioned on the forums if Taylor Brands may start to produce some of the older Schrade patterns....Take a look.

Link to SMKW Web page, checkout the next few pages also.

Thanks, but no thanks. This is the Schrade Knives Collectors Forum, not the Schrade branded forum. I will move this to the General Knife Discussion.

so anybody know who's making the Schrade USA Made versions?
probably wont get me to buy one but it'd be interesting to know who's doing the higher end for taylor...

I'm done with them too. When they were US made I liked the looks of a few of them but quickly discovered they simply wouldn't hold an edge. I think I have about 10 or 12 left but they don't get used any more because the heat treat isn't what I would expect from them.

I like the pillbuster pattern alot wish it was USA made.On the USA Damascus Trapper serialized for the costs I am getting two. I like Trappers and USA made.

I believe that both GEC and Bear & Son have made knives for Taylor Brands in the past. If I were interested in these knives, I would look at the patterns these companies offer under their own branding to see if one can be matched.

Codger makes an excellent suggestion. I would also suggest looking at Canal Street Cutlery. These are semi-custom production knives in some of the more popular patterns, such as the trapper. IMO the quality is high and the cutlers are some of the most talented and came from ISC closing in 2004.

yep what i was thinking too, cept i would avoid Bear given what ive read in the traditional forums over the last few years...

Walden is a town in New York not China. "Proudly Made in the USA" is why I collect vintage Schrade. I hope Schrade collectors forum stays focused on pre-2004 Schrade only. Thanks to Esav Benyamin for the move.

I feel the point of the post has been missed a bit!! Despite the move it was meant to show USA Schrade collectors what is being produced, which went hand in hand with posts talking about the new use of old brand names centered around discussions on BFC just after the closure of Schrade USA back in 2004.

I collect mainly Schrade USA knives and have more than 400 in my collection, The post was not as thought to promote these knives, far from it!! Just to inform.

No problem with the post being moved. Wanted to try and explain better the reason for the initial post.

I got your point Rusty. You wanted to point out that some of the new Taylor patterns are replicating actual "old favorite" Schrade Walden patterns like the 804. The price tag makes it pretty clear where they are being manufactured. The Camillus, Bear, Utica, and Great Eastern knives that were all Schrade Walden stamped were priced quite a bit higher than these new "65th Anniversary" editions. The Damascus knives though, looks like they put a USA stamp on them, and the price is up near $60.00. One center rivet in the handles, hmmmmm...

Curious to see actual pictures of these, to see what the jigged bone looks like. The SMKW online catalog illustrations are more of a drawing, and it is hard to tell. One of the offerings is an 8 1/2" closed length pill buster. Big Pills!

Spot on thawk!! That was the intent!!

There was a picture via ebay of that giant jack knife, the bone looked very
close to the original SCC peachseed jigging.

The SCHRADE WALDEN USA damascus pocket knives i looked at at SMKW's were made by GEC

Evening folks, I know this is an old thread but I was looking for info on these. I have 2. A Schrade Walden USA I have had and a Schrade Walden USA damascus I got on trade today. The fit on both is good but I noticed right off the finish on the damascus was better. Can anyone confirm GRINC's post? Thanks
