Does anyone here in the US sell the cute little stands that hold the khuk and the scabbard like you see on some of the Nepalese sites?

I always thought that it would be a bad idea to display a sharp blade on a stand.

I can see someone saying "whazzat?" and grabbing it. It will be followed by an "Aieeeee, get me a bandage".

Unless you put it behind some glass.

Bruise?

AHA !!!! So your REAL name is "Aieeeee?"

We will track you down. The clues accumulate!

:)

Aieeeee, what a name.
Gave my dad a khuk and a stand to display it on. Somebody could probably come up with something. The one I gave dad was a piece of wood about as long as the khuk with two forked inserts to set the khuk in. Maybe one of those stands used to display swords in would work.

"Aieeeee"...I can see why you changed it. But why to "Bruise"

I think I'd have chosen "Al" or "Andy" or something else starting with "A" (so you could keep all of your monogrammed stuff ya know) :D

When I get enough Kuhks to display, I'll just hang a big old wooden mantle on a wall somewhere (don't need no stinkin' fireplace), then put up nails on the wall to hang the scabbards from, and then bury the blades into the mantle under the respective scabbards.

Terry did make some khukuri hangers for a while, oops, think it was his mate Sandi.:)

Hollowdweller please e-mail me. I have some info for you that I think you will find interesting.

I was looking at these neat little pegboards at the local flea mkt. There is a little shelf built on top of the pegs. I thought the pegs would be cool to hang the HI's off of since they have the neat little loop. However I have a couple with kind of neat sheaths, and I thought it might be really cool to display them on the shelf part using the little khukuri stand. Maybe I can just cut some out with a jigsaw if I can't find any.

Thanks Y'all.

Well since HI doesn't make any khukuri stands I don't think this information will hurt anything as everyone knows that HI Khukuri's are the absolute best.:D
IIRC "The Khukuri House," the old Shop-1, once made the khuk stands.
Their website shows khuks on stands but doesn't show anyplace to order them.:(

Here's another place that has stands, but I don't know if they are sold seperately or not...

http://www.nepalesekhukuri.com/

The old Gurkha House used to sell the stands and they were supplied by The Khukuri House, first link.

Hope this helps.:D

Glass is probably uneccesary for a khuk stand. Smear blood on all the blades. That'll keep the looki lu's off.

Yvsa, I think the old shop 1 was down on the terai, sort of to Nepal what Texas is to the US. Khukuri House is in Kathmandu, but apparently bought from other aruns around Nepal. I know CG of GH :barf: went down there after HI gave up on them. They may well have been suppliers for KH also.

My memory of those times is getting foggy, but I think the onwer of the arun had to have surgery in India and let HI go several months without anything to sell since the owner wouldn't let his kamis work on HI stuff when he wasn't there. Their bread and butter was making khuks of a little lower quality faster. ( KH? ) Anyway, that is how shop 2 got started, when they didn't deliver for too long.

We'll have to wait for Uncle Bill to set this straight. But you are right that KH has the stands. Don't have it's link but anyone who wants can find it with a search engine.

I have been useing the large wood photo frames the kind that unfold from the center they work ok...also non-decorated wine racks ..have a couple that hang on the wall narrow ones that hold 4 to 6 they look good, but I would like to find a good stand to keep them displayed out of the sheath...long ones you can use a kantana stand but the shorter ones....

What about those fancy things that they use to display plates? Those look similar... sort of.

I have seen some really good ones made of clear perspex, but could not find them with a google search, I might try and make some:rolleyes:
