INFI SH2 with partially grooved handle slabs
Just like the regular INFI SH2 but with partially grooved micarta slabs (atleast it looks like it. This handle config is seen on some straight-handled BM's BTW). Only one I've seen like it.

INFI SH2 with fully grooved micarta handles, still screws
Just what the title says.

INFI SH2, fully grooved, with tube-fasteners
Tube-fasteners debut here, AFAIK.

INFI SH2, tubes, with swirly-handle slabs
Just like the title says. Very cool IMHO. I don't think these were ever full production....don't know the full story, but they aren't common.

The First Steel Heart E's!
Vast departure from the past, but still a Steel Heart for sure. New, ergonomic handle, diamond-quilted micarta slabs, slightly shorter blade with slightly less aspect ratio. These seem to have more of a dropped handle than later E-models (to me). Smooth coating still.

SH-E
Most SH-E's are like this one. Less drop than the original SH-E's (to me), and now the crinkle-coat has arrived.

Zero Tolerance Steel Heart
There was a special run of 400 of these. 3/16" stock, false-edge/swedge, 2/3 sabre flat grind (unlike the usual full flat), satin finish, tan handles standard. Very cool.

Current SH-E
The only new things are a laser-ground Busse log (I think they're laser-ground) on the base of the face of the blade, and now the tang is ground perfectly flush with the micarta slabs, and I think the slabs are rounded a little in the process.

If anyone (including you Jerry) knows anything I'm missing or have left out, please speak up.

The Steel Heart....a legacy of greatness and a continuing story of high performance, durability, versatility, and, dare I say, beauty :D

I can only wonder what the future holds for this enduring and amazing Busse.

Very very nice.

Man, some sweet pics.

I've been drooling all over the place.

Andrew,
Nice pictorial. Just a couple of things I thought I would note. The pic of the SHII, just above the first SH-E pic, has handle slabs where the grooves are actually diagonal. I say this, as I have one with what look like the same slabs. As far as I know, not many came with that particular micarta style/configuration. It's similar to the diamond quilted, though the slabs are thinner and more contoured overall.

Also, there were/are some SHII's that came with the crinkle coating at the tail end of their production (mine has that too).

What is a "Ghost" Busse is it something like the "Nimrod Special Satin Jack"?:D & oh if any one has a extra one of those on the bottom I need one to um ah make sheaths with ya thats it make sheaths with:D

Andrew,
Very nice work. Thanks for all the time you put into this, it is a great pictorial guide to the history of the Steel Heart.

Yes, I guess they are diagonal. They at first looked swirly to me, but I now that I look more closely, you're right. Thanks for the further info too :)

Yes, I think Jerry told me about this. I think the last 100 SH2's were like this, 50 of them crinkle-coated, 50 of them satin. He also mentioned that they had the diamond-quilted micarta scales...perhaps I heard him wrong or he meant these (diagonal grooving). Thanks for reminding me! Good catch.

you left out the ghost Busse:)

I thought a ghost Busse had the special logo that was ghost-like in appearance (it was lightly etched or something). Are you referring to something else, perhaps the third SH2 down, with the different grind near the hilt? Either way, I'd love to hear some more info on those beauties :D

Bob,
Welcome to the Busse Forum, glad you stopped by. :D:D

I hope you stick around and join in our discussions :D
