What is the longest blade length you have? The shortest?

Thinnest? Thickest?

Funkiest grind?

Oldest?

Just curious. Seems like a good topic.

American Kenzie,
Well, I have a Custom on order.
19 1/2" blade, 8 1/2" handle...28" over all.

The smallest Busse would be one of my apprentice knifes at 3"

Thinest....LMS's, and ZT's

Coolest grind...The "Shark"

Oldest....the "Shark"

If you're talking strictly Busses, then it's my Basic 9 and Basic 3 as the longest and shortest. Other than that, on a trip to Philippines, I had a guy who forges traditional bolo's make me a 30 inch blade starting at 1/4 of an inch thick all the way down to the point. So far it's been my weed whacker. My thickest is a sirupati I got from Himalayan Imports that's 6/16ths of an inch thick. Oldest is a Civil War short sword/long knife.

The longest I have is a Straight Handled BM
Shortest= Assault shaker
Thinnest= ZT's and LMS
Thickest= 5/16" Badger Attack
Funkiest, well coolest is my Flying Tiger
Oldest I'm not sure either my A2 MS or my A2 Badger

Shortest: Assault Shaker
Thinnest: LMS and ZT's
Thickest: 1/4"
Funkiest: Quad Grind
oldest: SH Badger and SH SHII
Longest: My ZT BM when I get my ZT set at the end of this week:D

Shorty: Assault Shaker
Skinny: ZTSH
Fatty: 5/16" MS
Coolest grind: ZTSH & Aftershocks
Oldie: Combat Recruit
Longest: Aftershocks & BME

Thinnest is an Outdoor Edge "wedge" How thin...a little thicker than paper!

Medium thickness is my very used and trusty Steel heart II at 1/4 inch.

Thickest is my Salayan Khukuri also Himalayan Imports at a wopping 6/8ths inch thick!!!:eek: A true beast!

I have a patch knife (for cutting musket patches) from around the Revolutionary War. Also a butcher's cleaver from that era.

Longest would be a somewhat oversized katana.

Shortest is probably a scalpel for hunting applications.

Most unusual grinds would be blades made from obsidian and other primitive materials (you know, pre-Infi steels, etc.).

DancesWithKnives,

I used to knap (sp?) flint when I was a kid. Couldn't find much so we'd use the bottoms of pop bottles. Then, I found a glass factory that had a field of discarded "slag". The "slag" was what was left at the bottom of the big melting pot after they were done making several batches of glass. . . sorta like burnt spaghetti sauce. This "slag" was great for this sort of thing and it usually had a very dark, almost black, color. . . . and it was closest thing to obsidian that I could find. I started making knives on the rendezvous circuit and used to actually make a hot gun blued, flinted, 0-1 tool steel blade that looked like an obsidian knife. True sign of a frustrated knapper! ;)

I'll see if I can't find one to post a picture of,

Jerry
