My brother is asking about the biggies. Maybe he's hooked. We spent the day clearing out thorny underbrush and was impressed.

So what is the longest/heaviest khuk out there?

Brian

Probably the 30 inch AK! :eek:

I have a 20" AK, and it's a beast!

Practical limit is one meter length on the outside of the box. That's for air shipping, longer than that gets surcharged if you can get them to take it, from what Uncle has said. You definitely don't want to ship surface, either.

n2s is right about the length and weight. The Janawar Katne actually exceeds the 30" AK in weight by an oz! That 30" AK in the picture is mine and it is a real handful. Make that two handfuls! At 100oz. it is advisable to use two hands when swinging that thing. Definitely leaves its impression on whatever you hit with it.

Big One
These big khuks are fun. Maybe not real practical but alot of fun.

Even a 25" is a bit on the impractical side. At 4 and a half pounds it is a handfull after a while. You would have to be a total machine to swing it for any length of time. The 20" AK is a much better heavy use Khurk in my opinion since it is heavy enough to cut just about anything yet not so much that it tears my arm of off my shoulder.

Not the biggest, but a practical one is the Foxy Folly at 20 1/2" and three pounds.
The FF doesn't feel that heavy to me, but then I haven't worked with either of mine as yet either.:)
I nominate the FF as a large Fun khuk to own even if all you do is look at and fondle it.:D

The 25" to 30" AK's are beasts. Roger has a 25" AK named Godzilla that is about 80oz (5 pounds). Pics and a review of Godzilla can be seen Here.

Yvsa, I agree with you about the Fox not feeling as heavy as it is. Mine is just under 3 lbs but it doesn't feel that bad. Once I finish changing the handle a bit, I think that it will be one of my favorite heavy choppers. Between it and a 20" AK villager.

Mark, Yvsa,
Please Stop teasing me about Foxys folly! I am waiting for mine at the momment! My first HI kuk! I coudnt resist a 20inch 3lb kuk with a small handle! Thats not a fighter but its just like one of the old Nepalese executioners kukris! I think thats pretty original myself! I might be wrong but by my calculation I just got the last one! {run of 15 + 1}

So please no more extoling the virtues of the FF!{well not till I get mine anyway!}

cheers,
Spiral ;) :rolleyes: :D
