hi all, about circa 1982 i was at the n.y. int. knife show at the sheraton hotel and met sal his lovely wife and saw the mariner for the first time .i also bought a custom leather sharpmaker roll that houses all the stones etc., some how the mariner got put into this leather roll and was never heard from again.yesterday i am showing a fellow spyderco fan this roll and what do i find but the missing knife. i had of course replaced this knife with a newer model and i got a kick out of comparing the two.the original has one thick scale on the clip side and one thin scale. it has gin -1 steel and is still has the original factory edge. this knife is going into the spyderco collection as my oldest model. well thats the story bye all, hi
