I cant help myself.. I have fallen in love with the Benchmade Axis Lock.. or at least some of the knives that employ it..
After receiving my second Benchmade knife a couple of weeks ago.. and the first with the Axis Lock.. I have become a fan boy.. Yep.. I hate to admit it but I have.. My Benchmade 940-2 is just an amazing knife.. (once I fixed the problem with the pocket clip) And my Crooked River is.. well just amazing.. (other than the butt ugly back spacer..) which will soon be dyed a beautiful dark brown to match the scales.. Anyway.. although I cant say all of Benchmades line up interest me.. the ones I've picked so far are some of my favorite knives... and I have quite a few knives.. So without further ado (I'm sure this will be no surprise to most of you) here is my latest Benchmade.. the one that started it all from what I have read.. (as far as the Axis Lock is concerned).

P.S. The problem with the pocket clip.. it seems to always come mounted on the wrong side..

i like the axis, but find my right hand trigger finger gets in the way of opening which makes me adjust my grip and slows down my opening. not a big deal by any means but its kept me from loving it......i just like it.

Well my Drill Sergeant was fond of saying "Liken Leeds to loving.." 😊 👊👊👊👊👊

The Axis ruined other EDC folders for me.

Yeah, yeah, I like messing with other knives, I like ZT flippers, I like handling Sebenzas once in awhile, a Case Trapper is always fun and who doesn't like a classic lock back once in awhile?

But for every day use, it's an Axis or a fixed blade for me. I just have the muscle memory for the Axis. It's the fastest I've found (and I mean fastest to use and put away, not necessarily to deploy), it works with gloves, numb fingers, wet fingers, etc., and it's ambidextrous. I've tried EDC'ing other locking mechanisms, and I just go back to the Axis every time.

Congratulations!

Great photos of a very practical yet very attractive knife. I love the sculptured lines of the blade.

I love my two Griptilians - it just works with my hand and muscle memory perfectly, and I never have to think about opening or closing it.

The 710 was an instant classic.

Have known the boys of McHenry Forge for much longer than I care to admit, and Bill/Jason really knocked it out of the park with that one.

I own six of them and two variants....always bring a smile when they are carried/used/played with.

Enjoy!

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

My first glance at a 710HS at a client's home years ago turned me into a follower. I'd owned Bucks and SAK's, but nothing compared to that knife. I now own five variants and love 'em all.

true. practice makes perfect......it's a great lock design, i just have to open holding it differently than the other lock designs.

I think once we get used to the Axis design it's not difficult to adjust between tip up and down if switching to frame lock or locking liner. I like both!

I was just saying in another post how attracted I am to the blade in the 710's, absolutely love the blade on shape and size on them. I gotta get me one one day. And yeah, the axis lock is hands down far ahead as my favorite locking mechanism. It makes all others seem so bland in comparison. I have a compression lock knife coming tomorrow (pm2) and I'm hoping I'll at least be satisfied enough to keep it. Of course it's going to be used ALONG SIDE my mini griptilian, the mini grip ain't going nowhere.

My name is George, and I approve this message.
