The M2 Ritter Grip that wasn't...

Saw that there were a few of the M2 Grips left, and ordered one. Not having any knives in this steel, I was greatly looking forward to owning one. UPS just arrived, and everything looked good until I opened the box and found...a Ritter Grip in S30V- they sent the wrong knife. No one will be available to help until Tuesday of next week. I have a sinking feeling in my gut.

<sigh>

Not typical for Aeromedix to mess up an order. Some Q's come to mind: Did you order on-line or over the phone? Did any follow-up emails from Aeromedix specify M-2? RSK's in S30V and M-2 have different prices, how much were you charged? M-2 knives are still available. You might want to reorder to get the knife and fix the return and payment issues on Monday over the phone. $.02

I ordered online through Aero. Everything in the box, including the order form with all of the order info was correct- except the knife. Everything on the order confirmation email showed correct as an M2 Ritter. They charged me the correct amount for the M2, think the one I received is actually 5 dollars more. I was told today that no one would be able to help until Tuesday.

I fully realize it was an honest mistake on their part, just really had my hopes up- especially when I saw the UPS truck pull up. I may well reorder and get it straightened out Tuesday.

AS an aside, the knife I did receive is very nice, serial #006. I found the slight blade heavy balance to facilitate wicked fast one hand opening.

The standard S30V versions shouldn't be numbered. If possible, can you post some photos of the knife and the box that it came in?

Edit: I noticed that you posted on another forum stating that the knife you received is one of the 100 original serialized versions. I was under the impression that these had all been sold out quite some time ago, so it should be interesting to see how this all turns out and what (if any) explanation Aeromedix or Mr. Ritter offers.

Sounds like you might have ordered the new RSK Plain Edge S30V black coated by mistake - it will be serialized for the first 100. In pictures it looks practically identical to the M2 version... and it is exactly $5 more.

I did see that knife (RSK plain edge s30v), it is not the one I ordered. As stated above, both my order confirmation and the order sheet that shipped with the knife indicate a Doug Ritter M2-Steel knife, no mistake in the order. The ID on the box for the knife I ordered should read 552M2-600 Griptillian (followed by serial number); the box I received reads 552BT-500 Griptillian- and it is a pretty nice knife, handles and feels great. Underneath that label is a tag that says 'Limited Edition 006". I will attempt to post a few shots of the knife sometime in the next day or so.

On another note, I am fairly new to collecting knives though they have always been an interest since I could walk. I have found this board (and a few others) to be extremely informative; mostly I lurk, but will likely post a bit more as time goes on. The level of courtesy, respect, input and interaction from people such as Thomas W. from Kershaw and Mr. Ritter is impressive. I have no doubt every effort will be made to remedy my particular situation. I do appreciate all the input- thanks!

The exact same thing happened to me. Just got my "M2" today, but is says S30V on the black blade. And the invoice says M2. And I hate S30V with this knife. This is a limited edition No. 014. And I know Aeromedix is a good company that will fix this, but after problems with two Ritter S30Vs it took all I had to order another in M2. Then it's another S30V.

Aeromedix.com would like to apologize to the handful of people who received SV30 Steel knives last week while expecting the M2.

We have the M2s here in the warehouse and would recommend simply returning the wrong knives to

Aeromedix.com LLC
982 W Broadway
PO BOX 14730

We will gladly refund the shipping on the original order and ship out the correct knife promptly.

Again, sorry for the error.
