This strange flick is out on dvd now.

I really liked it. Great psychological mystery. If you liked movies such as Donnie Darko and Memento, you will probably like this.

Keeps you wondering what the heck is going on.

How many times will I have to watch it before I understand it? ;)

That's like asking, "How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop?"

Great film, by the way. Bale's physical appearance was shocking.

One, two, three...CRUNCH!

I just saw Christian Bale (again...) with Mathew McConaughey in 'Reign of Fire' over the weekend. Love those SciFi monster movies; Dragons, Werewolves, Vampires....Bale was good. He looked way different in that flick than he does in the trailers to 'The Machinist.' I'll have to watch it when I'm in a dark mood.

Yeah. Don't get me wrong. I liked Butterfly Effect, but The Machinist is in a different realm on a number of levels.

Not to get too far off topic here, but the creepiest movie I ever saw was 'Eraserhead' a long time ago. That was one twisted movie. If you haven't seen it, don't bother.

Eraserhead is about the creepiest/strangest thing ever made. Another strange one, if you can find it, is Begotten.

A few days after seeing this thread, I happen to be in the local video store and so I rented "The Machinist".

Just weeks earlier I had rented "Equilibrium" (also starring Bale), so when I saw him in "The Machinist" I nearly flipped!

How and the heck did he lose so much weight?
Honestly, I hardly recognized him from seeing "American Psycho" and "Equilibrium".

And then I had heard that he bulked up for the upcoming Batman movie--that kind of yo-yo dieting CAN"T be healthy!

I thought it was a good movie.

Cheers,
Allen.

When you're making the kind of money he is for doing a movie, a little dieting is of small concern I bet. He was pretty well bulked up for 'Reign of Fire' too, though.

"A little dieting"?? That is the understatement of the week. He looked like a skeleton with flesh colored shrink wrap over it.
