Hybrid Hunter pics

All I can say is wow! Outdoor Edge did a great job on this one. It feels great in the hand. They did a great job on the handle. I even like the sheath more than I thought I would. I'll probably still get a kydex sheath made for it, but the sheath that comes with it is excellent for outdoor use.

I was surprised to see that it is made in Seki City and not Taiwan. Not that there is anything wrong with that. But the quality of Seki City knives is known to be somewhat better.

The really cool thing about this knife is the suggested retail of..... $50

This knife is a great alternative to those looking for a decent priced good quality edc fixed blade.

I'll post more when I've had a chance to handle it for awhile.

Congrats Neil and Outdoor Edge.

Using my tape I find the OAL to be about 8 1/2".

The sharpened portion of the blade is right at 3 1/2".

They are indeed using AUS8.

The tang is completely enclosed by the handle material (Kraton). From what I understand, molding through and around the tang was not easy. The tang also goes right to the butt and is visible inside the lanyard hole.

It may be called the hybrid hunter, and I'm sure it would excel at hunting, but this would also make a fine "tactical" carry piece.

nice knife - I really like the blade shape. I could do without all the writing on the blade tho - I don't like when companies do that.

Geez, a guy goes big time with a production collaboration knife and the dealers can't spell his name right. Sometimes you can't win.

GEEZ!!!!!

I owe a few of my buddies 10 Bucks!! :)

Citori,

People have been "re-spelling" my name for me forever!!  I'm used to it. Dave got it right on the knife though!!

Thanks for posting this Dennis!! I'm excited to say the least :D I'll post more dealer info as I get it from Dave.

I just recieved one of these knives from the big brown truck today. I really like this knife. The grind is a deep hollow grind that is very high. This knife is an excellent slicer. Due to this blade geometry the the tip looks very weak. .250" back from the tip the blade is only .025" thick. I will not be stabbing this knife into anything hard. I think that the sheath is sufficiant, but leaves much to be desired. I will be getting kydex made for this knife so I can wear it horizontal on my belt. Overall, I think that this knife is an excellent buy, that not only will make a great hunting knife, but will also be an excellent EDC.

I got it from the Outdoor Super Store. None of the dealers that I normally deal with have this knife in stock.

Real nice! I just added the Blackwood/OE collaboration to my "must buy" list. Unfortunately, it's probably the closest to owning a Neil Blackwood creation.

Hey, Neil, how about a Henchman collaboration?

I really like this knife too. I couldn't wait to get my hands on one ever since I heard about them earlier this year. I like the sheath - it's certainly a bit different from anything I have now. It has a separate piece of plastic that the finger guard depresses which acts like semi-mechanical lock. Pretty neat feature if you ask me. I don't know how it will stand up to prolonged use though. It looks like it may be replaceable since there is a screw holding it in. The whole sheath is made of plastic and covered with nylon. Maybe Neil can elaborate on this locking feature.
