The Potawatomi Slim Necker. This is a neck knife design from jds1. This is what Jeff had to say about the name.

"I decided to call this one the "Potawatomi Slim Necker" in honor of my favorite local trail and one of Southeast MI's aboriginal peoples. Their name in their own language means "Keepers of the Sacred Fire", which is pretty cool too."

Here is the cutout Jeff sent me.

Holes drilled and stamped with my K, and a number 1 on the reverse side, ready to heat treat tomorrow.

Awesome! I love these "making of" threads. Thanks for taking the time to put this together.

Jeff

nice pattern - should make a great small game knife - what are the measurements?
looks to be a 2.5" blade and maybe 4" handle?

Cool! Since it is thin (3/32"), are you saving all of the bevel grinding until after heat treat?

That`s correct. I had to go to a funeral yesterday, so I will be grinding the bevels and glueing on the handles today.

My shop helper for the next couple of days, Alison`s boxer, Bella

Must have worked Bella too hard, she`s kicking back in my office / den / spare bedroom now. She`s probably going to want workmans comp now! Hope she`s not a disgruntled employee and grabs that riot gun standing in the corner behind her!

Naaww, i dont think Bella's gonna do any shootin,BUT
she does have that look of Get Out, and dont forget to shut the light off... haha

Does the "1" mean "one of"? Saw that on some of my dads blades, just wondered what it meant.

Jeff may have been designing a neck knife, but I think he came up with the perfect small game, or Bird & Trout knife.

Hi Guys -

That does look like a handy knife - the blade is reminiscent of the RWC, which has become a staple in my kitchen.

Nice work as always, Mr. K, and very nice design work, Jeff - you are a natural.

best regards -
