Thanks Wolfjohn for a good deal and fast shipping.

I posed it at the top of a few other pretties.

One beautiful knife for sure and not a lot of them around.

:D

Don't know what steel. There was no box.

I suppose I'll have to try to find out, but I'm not sure how.

There's a knifemaker fairly near to me and maybe he can tell me.

BTW......I think the knife is beautiful, so I'm happy with it whatever steel it might be.

I just have a weakness for beautiful wood.

:)

Nice knives! :thumbup::thumbup:

I am always amazed at the size of the 110 up against other knives.

Well, I've learned that there was a special run of about 90 of these burl maple 192s that were not stamped BG-42 but used up some BG-42 steel they had lying around.

If I knew how many burl maple 192s were made with 420HC I guess I'd know my odds. You know that number so you can say almost certainly?

:)

Thanks!

No gun safe for me.

I keep everything out where it can be stolen.

That would mean I'd have to buy a lot more!

:D

Hi man !
You have got a set with the really nice knives.
And of course Buck 192 with the Burl wood handle is the premium on your photo.
This knife will be more preferable in my hands during my hunts in Russia.

Garry, you almost have me convinced, but I think I'll keep it to look at for a while.

I have much detective work to do to find out if it could possibly be unmarked BG-42 blade.

Such work I enjoy.

I have recently seen some American movies.
And now I know that the real American guy has to talk strong and hard, with the Colt in his one hand and at the same time with the smile on his face.:D
Of course you can play some time with this knife , but please remember that our spies can steal it if you don't put it in your gun's safe.

Yes.......this is an old American saying........

"You can get more with a smile and a gun than you can get with a smile."

I think this was spoken to the Native People of this land and it has worked all over the world ever since.

Oh, really!
I haven't known it before.
This American saying is very convenient for our crazy life.
I need remember it for my next probable negotiations with somebody in English.:D

I knew that I had something similar to the one in question, but mine has the Master Series BG42 blade (bottom, first picture). The other side is marked Master over Series over BG42. It just took awhile to locate it. I also have one with the burl handle that isn't marked but was "supposed" to be BG42 (bottom knife, second picture). I can't see any difference with the naked eye between these two and a regular 420HC Vanguard blade.

I take it your box had the correct numbers to be BG-42. I don't have a box, so I don't even have THAT element of verification. I haven't been able to contact my local knifemaker, I think he's in Florida.

When Joe gets back in the saddle I'll ask him about it. I'm sure he's had the question before and he'll have the records as to how many BGs and 420s were made with the burl maple handle in 2008. That'll narrow it down some.

Great looking 192s,I really like the blade shape!.Anyone know who designed the 192?
