I acquired some time ago a 501 with a BG42 blade.Very nice little blade. Buck also had some runouts (I think they are called) with the green composite handle with BG42. I'm still looking for one of those.
Will the Master Series ever be reborn?--Dan

I may be wrong, but I believe the overruns were in the 110, 119 and 192. real nice knives,I've got the 119 and 192 and use them both.

This have been discussed before here on Buck knives forum. Me and alot of other people would like to see the Buck Master Series reborn again. I did not caught the opoturnity to buy any of them, when they where available, because they where made in limited series. I think they should be reintroduced again, but this time as a standard in Buck´s production line. They had diamond wood handle and the blades where made of BG-42 steel last time. I wold like to have a Master series Special 119,if it should be available again.

Manowar, You may wish to try Dennis Wright in La Mesa ca. He may have a 119 still. Worth a shot.

He is closed on sunday and monday. if he is at a show, there will be a message saying so on his answering machine. I've bought my Buck centennial knives as well as the Chris Reeve knives I own. He's well known here, though seldom posts. Great to deal with. Generally hours 1030 am to 6 pm Cal. time. happy hunting.

I checked and we did about 600 of the 501 Master Series. I could not tell if any of these were overruns like we did with some of the other models. Either way, thats a low number.
I have not heard of any plans to reintroduce the series and agree that we would most likely introduce standard models with the upgraded steel.
The Master Series was Buck's first venture into using BG-42 on a production basis. Since then we have used it, and several other specialty steels, on quite a few production knives.
Hope this helps,
