The Matriarch! Questions for Sal or any owners

I've looked at some pictures of the famous matriarch and since I will probably never be able to hold one before I buy it I have a few questions. Is the the tip of the blade thicker than a civilian's? I'm going to use this knife and the civilians tip is rather thin for utility use. Is the build quality the same as a zytel Endura? No g 10 available so I was just curious. Oh any insiders know of a reliable overseas source for this knife? Thanks The "Toecutter"

Toecutter, COuld you post up some links....I havent seen any pictures of it yet. Thanks.

Ken,

If you do a search in the Spyderco Archive you will find lots of pictures. I did a quick search and found one link but IIRC there are more.

Take care,

Clay,

Thanks for the tip. The Matriarch looks very nice. Personally I prefer the looks of the serrated Civilian with the G10 scales but prefer the tip up carry of the Matriarch.

Cheers again

Ken

When will these be available to those of us that live in the USA?

I will try to answer some of the issues. The point of my Matriarchs are very close to the Civilians in the last 3/8th's inch. both taper out to approx .035/inch in thickness. I carry a Matriarch every day, but that is not what I use to cut open containers, etc. For that, I have a true utility knife. The Matriarch is not what I would carry for a "one knife" kit.

The handle is that of the Endura, and it's assembly matches an older Endura I have laying around. Very nice fit/finish on the ones I have seen (approx 12).

Hope this helps,
Brian

Ken, unlike the picture (which is of a prototype) all the M's are fully serrated like the C.
