This is a horrible story, but the reporter has messed the facts up beyond recognition. Just another sign that the quality of reporting is going down the tubes nowadays. :grumpy:

Ugly Betty actor 'kills his mom with a Samurai sword

An actor who appeared in hit show Ugly Betty has been arrested after allegedly killing his mother with a samurai sword.

Daily Mail reports that the actor, Michael L Brea, is said to have hacked and decapitated her with a Freemason ceremonial sword in Brooklyn...

And it's accompanied by this image

EDIT - IMAGE removed

Obviously they have no concept that there are different styles of sword.

What the heck? That's a high end Vince Evans piece (and one that I might kill for incidentally :) )and not something that some wingnut actor was likely to have had. The photo is probably by point seven or sharp by coop. Obviously the idiot reporter just google searched images on swords and put up something that caught their fancy.

Cause if they just said "sword" we wouldn't know what they were talking about.
And, if they don't stand infront of the "location" we won't know where they're talking about.

It's a Point Seven photo.

I emailed Vince about it.

I don't know what you're referring to...

Vince says "thanks", and he's emailed the magazine.

Tom quit knifemaking for several years when one of his knives was allegedly used in a homicide. He makes some really cool coins and buttons. I've heard he is starting to make knives again now.

He is, he was even featured in Blade not that long ago. Yes, that's what I was referring too, although I think it was a case of self defense not a homocide.

Technically, all murders are homicides, not all homicides are murders. Just sayin' is all;) I don't remember the details, but either way it had to be a sobering experience for someone to go through.

Homicides do not always involve a crime. Sometimes the law allows homicide by allowing certain defenses to criminal charges. One of the most recognized is self defense, which provides that a person is entitled to commit homicide to protect his or her own life from a deadly attack. For example, if a police officer confronts a suspect armed with a dangerous or deadly weapon, the officer may use force to stop the suspect. If this force ends up killing the suspect it is still considered a homicide, which in this case, is not illegal but self-defense.
