Definitely the season to be making knives for the great outdoors to accomplish all sorts of tasks.
This one is off to Germany to travel around Europe.
The "Mesabi".
W1 tool steel with a processed hamon, a crested spine, and a brown dyed and stabilized Curly Maple handle fitted up with stainless steel take-down fittings.

Karl,
I like it a great deal. Nice package, no extras, everything that is there is both functional and attractive. Good sense of style and minimalism.
If you had wanted, you could have polished that thing to make the hamon jump out (look at my avatar or the recent blades I posted in the gallery). The hamon on that one could be made to look very close but not quite as vivid at the ones in the post, probably as vivid as the one in the avatar since I polished it for a working edge and that makes the hamon show less.

You may already know this, and you may not care, so please forgive me if you don't care or already know or both. I just wanted to compliment you on that blade and let you know that you had the option of emphasizing a beautiful hamon and still having it with a good finish for working.

good one,
Kevin
