yes, the future is near...
I was killing time in the mall waiteing for my wife to come out of one of her "Girl's clothes" stores, when while reading some magazines at the News Stand I came to an ineresting story.
Seems the guy writing the magazine artical decided to answer the question "What happens if you place metal into the kitchen microwave oven?"
well, yes, "Sparks!" was one of the answers he came up with, but the writer also learned that with a few fire bricks to help control the heat and a few other things, he was able to do a little smelting of metal.
This was very cool to learn...I cant help but think that if a guy can smelt metals inside a normal kitchen microwave oven, that some knifemaking inventer guy somewhere will be able to design a more powerfull oven for use by knife makers...
think of it, a forgeing heat in seconds with only 110 power!, no cleaning a messy forge of burned coal, no messing with gas, just toss the raw steel into the Micro-forge, set the timer, and waite for the 'Ding"
I didnt think to toss the magazine into the cart when we chcked out, so I dont know what one it was that had this story in it,,,but it was a cool think to read and started me dreaming of a new "Micro-Forgeing" future... .
