Guys and chicks, one of my daily carry items for several years has been a mini Sharpie. They weigh only 0.13 oz. (crazy but true), and are one of my most-used EDC items. It lives in my left front pocket with keys, SAK, 1xAAA light and whatever else I stick in there. Its one of those things that you don't realize you "need" until you start to carry it.
But there is a secret to finding them. They are only released as "back to school" items, so you will find them in August as "end cap" (stand alone, end of the aisle) items at Office Depot and other vendors. When "back to school" time ends, the mini Sharpies disappear from stores until next year. So now is the time to find them. At about $1.00 each, I bought 10x last year as they are easy to lose, but I still have several left.
They have a swivel clip attachment that I remove and discard, but you can clip them to key rings or anything else if you are into it.
