Hi Folks-

Well, I'm a little late, but I wanted to post about the Montana show. It sure was fun!!!

I think most everybody had a great time! Except my girlfriend that had to spend 4 hours in the hospital with food poisoning. Good thing I left her there and went to the BBQ. Just kidding, I stayed with her:p

Ed Caffrey did a forging demo on Saturday out in the parking lot. Unfortunately I missed it, but I heard it was fun.

Bruce Bump passed his MS performance test on Friday and got Ed and Shane Taylor to sign his certificate!

The rope cutting comp was won by one of Ed Schemp's friends with Ed's knife at 9 ropes. I'm sorry but I didn't hear his name...hopefully someone here knows.

There were lots of great raffle donations all week-end, and I won a set of ivory scales donated by Dan Westlind!

Show awards went something like this, please correct me if I'm wrong:

Best Folder- Rick Dunkerly
Best Art/Fantasy- Deryk Munroe
Best Hunter/Utility- Gary Rodewald
Best Fighter/Bowie- Gary Rodewald
Best Damascus- Shane Taylor
Best Miniature- Dennis DesJardins (his wife entered it)
Best Hand-Forged- Nick Wheeler

Best of Show Fixed Blade- Gary Rodewald (yes, he got 3 trophies!)

The best thing was there were not a lot of customers to get in the way of us knifemakers chatting! Ha ha...just kidding, it was great. I am so glad I got to go!!!!

Nick

Sorry to hear about your girlfriend, please give her my best.
As for the show, glad you had a good time.:)

Congrats Nick, sound like it was a good trip. Do you have any photos of your winner? would really like to see it or any others you might of captured. You were fedding that girl that chicken and rice stuff you are so famous for were you? Terry

Nick, my friend---So what else is new? Nothing you can do surprises me! You are just doing "what comes naturally"! Sandy

Congrats again on the Best Hand Forged!! Poor Alana, I hope she doesnt asscociate any future shows with food poisoning. What a bad first experiance.

We sold a pug puppy "little Bear" to Art and Linda Swyhart. We will get to see him next year.

All and all a fun weekend!

Yup, the show was great! It was my first time to this show and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

I guess I mis-wrote which award Nick won...gotta fix that on my site:

It was a really clean Bowie that Nick had. If there was better lighting I would've taken a pic.

Congratulations Bruce on the MS test!

Hello I'm Dennis DesJardins only granddaughter and one of only three grandkids. His family was denied access to his final knife auction by his wife at the time saying it would scare off high price buyers. We have almost nothing of grandpa's. If you still have any of his knives you are willing to part with or sell please contact me. srdsinger@gmail.com
