So I have seen this blade referenced several times on the forum. It looks like there were two versions? a .40 and a .3x thick version. which was more common? Normally Id just try to self research it but the new forum search is still not working.

I'd reeeeally like to buy one. but I'm not sure which version was more common and which was rarer.

Also is there any other good places to watch for one?

Man someone says MOAB and Drew shows up. How have you been Brother?

For all of you new guys, RVO3VOM is an Old School Hog of the Highest order. When he speaks you should all listen. He may know more about Busse knives than I do.

Garth

Hi Garth.

Yup, I am definitely a newcomer to busse, but consider me totally converted! You guys make exceptional blades. My hat is off to you.

BTW, im glad you found your way out of that suitcase Jerry saw Amy dragging around.

Stupid question..... What's the code name for the 1311?
I thought I read it as Mother of All.......
But then I keep reading Other knives. IDK :/

I am not sure, but the 1311 is a scrapyard knife thats approx .23-.25 .1875 thick SR101 unless I am mistaken. The MOAB is a Busse Combat blade thats 14 inches long and is between .36-.40 thick made with INFI.

Actually the MOAD I don't believe was anything official but mostly after the fact. I remember Dan Busse had called it the 'Fairy Dogmother', however. Nobody ever calls it by this now...

Well you're welcome and I'm glad you love it. It was born of a request from me and maybe 1 or 2 others that were hanging around the Scrap Yard forum at the time asking for a 13" blade in the SYKCO '11 series. Dan responded that a blade that big would surely pull his pants right off (wearing it on the belt), so I suggested 3/16" to lighten it up some. True story, no joke... :):)

The SYKCO 1111 followed next if I remember correctly, I really like that one alot too and finally scored one thanks to a friend here at BF. The 1111 is 1/4" blade and it's a hefty chopper that carries some real forward weight (which is awesome), I plan to strip mine soon. Then I will be forcing a patina and giving it a serious chopping edge that should make it a real workhorse of a knife. Only need to find the time to begin that one...

I think the reason you love it so much is it comes from not just the blade length/shape but also the fact that the ones I've had over the years have been ground very thin towards the edge (compared to most if not all other Busse/kin choppers). This was a double edged sword because there were some who were a little overeager to really 'test' this design that did damage the blade significantly.

I'd like to buy You a beer then....haha.

Seriously, its Amazing. I'd like a spare.
It being 3/16" thick is what makes it so good!

It throws Huge chunks/chips out of Hardwood.
I chop hard and heavy. This thing amazes me.
I'm curious about the 1111? I told myself I'm not buying any more unless they are in a Regulator handle..... but now, I've got an Alpha....it's ok.
I'd really like an Alpha 2011, or something Long, and .1875" thick.

I'm curious about the 1111?

Both are awesome. If forced to pick one though, I’d go 1311.
