Several months back, I got a Model 55 because I liked the dimensions. 1/8 the size of my 110 and easily fits in the change pocket of my jeans, so I carry it all the time. Very handy little lockback that I now use more than the little SAK I've had on my keychain for years and years. But heck, when I get home, the keychain goes in a desk drawer. This Model 55 stays right here in my pocket and I find myself reaching for it all the time.

I just never see any mention of this particular model. I assume it's fairly popular, though.

I really do appreciate the 55. I am amazed that Buck can build such a small knife and still have excellent fit, finish and function. It is a premier small clip point locking folder. A real gem.

I've gotten used to carrying and using the Bucklite 424 (drop point blade), from our good friends to the North @ CT. Here are the two for your amusement

Funny you should mention that bucklite and C.T. thier flyer says its on sale this week

I love the 55's :)
I use the standard one a bunch, out in the gardens harvesting food. Perfect size for that.
I use the white bone scaled one as a going out fancy clothing gentleman's knife :)

I've been looking at the 55 for a couple of years, and maybe when I finally retire my 303 of 35 years I will give it a try.

I have Buck55 and Bucklite454,both are amazing knives, and especially 454 which I daily carry over most Spydercos and other knives!

I don't believe a 454 exist, there is 424, 444, 484 of which all 3 are the same size as the 501 and larger than the 55.

The 55 interests me a great deal, I can't talk myself out of getting one sooner or later, they're just too cool. I wish they were available through the custom shop.

lonestar do you have a photo of 424 that you carry? Is it vintage or new? I find them hard to obtain. When I was at the Buck factory in Post Falls, Idaho this last Summer they only had one available and it was a blem. I see them from time to time on the auction site but they usually go for top dollar. I carry one from Canadian Tire thanks to a terrific forum member up North and it I use it all of the time.

I had the mindset that the 55 was too small. Used to the 110, or 112 was a Buck knife. I finally came across a 55, and it is my most carried EDC knife. The fit and finish, lock up is as good an any knife ever carried period. Size is very comfortable also. It definitely is a keeper and highly recommended to anyone wanting a small lock back.

I've been going through a brass phase recently and had to pick a 55 up to watch age. I have a 503 too, but I like this one better, for no other reason than the color of the woodgrain and the brass bolsters. I think it makes for a nice vintage edc look. Can't go wrong with the 55.

I just noticed this is my first post over here! which is odd being as how I grew up with Bucks and have more of them than any other brand but victorinox!

424 is 3-4 years old and I got it for 10$can in Canadian Tire, and 55 I got for 5$ at Wall mart, clearance sale.

I need to go shopping with you. Swing by and pick me up would you. Well done Mr. Thrifty. I like bargains. Please tell me you bot five 55s and now have the market cornered. $10 for the 424 is an outstanding price for one of my all time favorite EDCs.

Guess I was lucky, it was the last one there , usually the price is around 45-50$can!424 is the one I use often though and it is a great light pocket knife that's razor sharp and tough too.Have used it a lot and love its blade shape and high thin hollow grind along with 420hc!
