Literally the day after I got back from Blade, my wife and I took my 4 year old daughter to the doc for some frequent urination and excessvie thirst issues. We then found out that her blood sugar was at 660 and had to rush her to a hosoptial in Madison to get things more figured out. She was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.:( We spent 4 days there trying to get insulin doseages figured out and lots of education on how to care for her. I know it's not the end of the world and she will be able to live a normal life, but it just sucks that it has to happen to her at such a young age. Damn it!

We never can tell what's in store for us in life. Just gotta keep going forward. If you think about it, maybe say a little prayer for her. Thanks for listening guys. -Matt-

Sorry to hear this! I would be going crazy if it wre my little girl. Stay strong, and this is not the end of the world. It does suck that these things happen to the little ones in our lives!

Now that is a real bummer Matt , sorry to hear this . She is so young . There has been lots of advancement lately dealing with diabetes . Our son has been diabetic since he was 12 , he is 36 now and doing great . He wears the new pumps they have out now . Best of luck and stay strong .

I couldn't imagine my baby girl getting sick. I really feel for you and your wife. Be strong for her and your wife. I will say a prayer for you all.

There are days in our lives that we replay over and over; some of them good, others not so good; we always want to know why things happen and constantly ask ourselves the same questions again and again.
We rarely get answers.

But in your child's mind, I figure she is just happy to have a great mom and dad to help her through this scary time in her life.
Take great pride in being a good and caring parent, it is deserved.

Sorry to hear the news. But like others have said it could be worse. I second what Fred say said, take pride in being a loving and caring parent. There really are so few of them around. You and your family will be in our prayers. May God Bless.

Thanks for the kinds words, prayers and encouragement guys. I finally feel like I'm starting to get my head on straight again, after being kind of foggy and confused for a while. It's been a hard adjustment for all of us (especially her), but I'm coming to realize that she is gonna be fine for the long haul, and that is all that matters to me. :) Thanks again! -Matt-

Prayers sent, Matt. Hang in there; it may take a while to get her meds just right. I'm glad you got her to a doctor before things got out of hand.

My wife developed type 1 at age 19. she will be 54 in Sept. We have been married 27 years. Have 4 kids and 2 grandkids. We have done everything we wanted to! You will adjust your way of doing things and move on. It will just
seem normal to y'all! We have had to make more adjustments for my A.D.D. & mild dyslexia than her Type 1. Y'all will emerge from this fog and it will be
clear sailing.
