A buddy of mine picked up this anvil from HF only 15 pounds but it is anvil shaped and since I was using a makeshift one I guess it's a step up. A local machine shop let me scrounge up an old part to their lathe that they were trashing so if you count all that together that little 15# anvil is alot heavier now I can barely pick the stump up and move it. Thought i'd share this picture cause it kind of makes me laugh seeing that little anvil perched up there.:D

Ken,

You need to go look at Old Dominion Recycling on Pembroke ave. The have a lot of anvil-like objects available for 30 cents a lb. Tell Tommy I sent ya.

Guess that means i'm over complicating things then but you have to admit does kind of look funny. But seriously going to give it a try this weekend who knows might be the best thing ever besides a real anvil that is.

Neat, but I think you'll have problems with the way the little anvil is atached. Also is it cast iron or cast steel? Even with the extra wieght the cast iron will be so soft as to be next to useless.

I've made out pretty good with a couple of Harbor Frieght 110 lb. Russian cast steel anvils, there not a Nimba, but then I paid 89$ each. I did have to do a good bit of grinding to clean them up, and one I cut the horn off for a bladesmith anvil but there holding up pretty well. Harbor Frieght doesn't carry them online anymore, the two I've got were from there store and they only had three. You would probably have to call to see which location has any left.
