I love Spyderco's Tenacious. It's affordable, comfortable, and durable. I have looked at some of their other knives, looking for a comparison that is similar to the Tenacious in size and oz.-age, but I'm asking if anyone has any suggestions for a comparable knife from ONLY Spyderco. Preferably respond if you've owned and used BOTH the Tenacious as well as the knife you're recommending. Thanks everyone!

Well, the closest I own are the Para-Military 2 and the Native FRN. The Tenacious sits a bit in-between both, though.

The manix 2 is pretty close but a bit more expensive (and worth it).
The tenacious line is spyderco's value knives. You're not going to find a spyderco similar to the tenacious for the same price AFAIK. Keep an eye out on the exchange here for a lightly used spyderco that you like.

I've got a Para-2 myself, and while it is an excellent design, sometimes the length of the handle is excessive in my book. Just me though. I have been interested in the Native every now and again. Can you flick open the Native smoothly with thumb, index, and middle finger like the Tenacious does? And do you know if the hole is the same size as the Tenacious?

Oops, you nailed it. I just put my LW Manix 2 and Tenacious side-by-side and wow, they're really close. Changing my vote to Manix 2!

The Sage's have a similar handle length, but a smaller blade. The Stretch is a bit bigger, but close. The Junior has a similar blade and a smaller handle.

Eh, price is all good for me. How do you like the ball bearing like overall? Is it extremely comparable to an AXIS lock? And one more question, flat grind or hollow in your opinion? How does the hollow do?

I have medium-large hands (glove size, anyway) and I can thumb flick the Native like a champ, but I struggle to nail it every time with any other digit (due to the slightly obscured opening hole). The hole on the Native is smaller than that of the Tenacious. Noticeably so.

The Caged Ball Bearing Lock on the Manix 2 works beautifully. While it functions differently from the AXIS lock, it feels nearly identical. Flat vs. hollow? I could go either way. It really just depends on the knife. If I could only choose one, I'd probably choose flat for a hint of added strength with similar cutting ability. If full flat grind is an option, I'd go for that as I typically don't need as robust of a blade for most daily tasks, but that's based largely on aesthetics.

So smaller hole on the Native, how about on the Manix? As well as opening with the different fingers on the Manix?

I also own both these knives and I have a tough time choosing between the two as an EDC. Mind you I have others to choose from I still gravitate back to these. The tenacious seems to fly open like its assisted....

If you like the tenacious, you'll be blown away by the Manix 2. It's incredibly smooth and sturdy.
