Nice collection

the DSF turned out great

Was that DSF just a regular combat grade before sending it to Busse?

Yes, it was a desert colored TM DSF bought off the exchange for ~$250 delivered.

I loved it then, but now it's just amazing. Garth did a great job with the serrations / edge / handle work, and it's exactly what I asked for. And, without getting into the specifics of his rates, it was really pretty cheap.

it's an incredibly stout knife with plenty of heft in a slim and small/fast feeling package. it's meant to be a truck-bag knife but I'll carry it everywhere for a while and beat on it just because I like it so much.

no matter the finish options, the DSFs are a whole lotta knife, for cheap.

Nice collection of satin blades you've got congrats. I need/want one of those Cabs though looks like a real handy knife.

Very nice collection !

Very cool DSF but I like satinized Bushwacker with black micarta even more.

It looks like you prefer black canvas on you're Busse knifes.

Is it only about the way it looks or you prefer black micarta over G10 while using you're knifes ?

I love pictures of matching collections. I think it is Dobywon who has an amazing Satin/Black Paper. AZTim also has a great Blue/Black G10 collection. I'm building an Orange/Black G10 collection myself.

They look great.

That's an awesome set!

I guess I'll have to breakdown and give the DSF a chance...
I always hear so may good things about them.

For me... I like the feel and grippiness of canvas versus G-10.

Grippiness... is that even a word?
 :D :p

very nice set. I know G10 can be made grippy. Look at the handles on the spyderco and benchmade folders with the dimpling. Not sure how they do that, but I would love to see that on fixed blade G10. Nice thing about G10 is that it is more resistant to liquids since it is less porous than micarta.

Tom Krein does some sort of abrasive blast to his G10 scales that gives it a nice texture.

Very nice. I too prefer micarta for comfort of use but think it would be interesting to somehow execute what Cobalt said. Maybe hand shaped g-10 with the texture on it like spyderco uses. ;)

DTDM, I gotta ask, is the BWM a comp finish that has been satined and black micarta put on? Very nice group all together.

I just like the feel of Canvas (in all conditions, wet/dry/cold/etc) a little better than either G10 or Paper. G10 is the toughest I think, Paper looks best, and Canvas feels the best, so it wins overall for me.. but it's a very subtle difference in any case, IMO.

Thanks.

No, the BWM was a Tanker Gray CG one with Black Canvas that I bought direct when they first came out. I initially did a half-assed ghetto satin job but got busy and distracted and never finished it. Garth and crew just finished the satin job and put a convex edge on it.
